Frequently Asked Questions - A Sober Way Home
When will I be able to speak with my loved one on the phone?
All newly admitted clients are placed on a 14-day phone “blackout”, to help them settle in. Generally speaking, they will be allowed to place one (1) ten minute phone call within the first two weeks, with the therapist present, to immediate family to let them know how they are doing. After the 14-day “blackout” period, they will be allowed to make three (3) ten minute phone calls per week to friends/family from the residence.
When will I be able to visit my loved one?
Clients are approved for visitation after completing 30 days of treatment. However, ultimately, the client’s therapist is the person who determines when a client is ready for a visit from friends and family. All visitation passes are to occur during the day, and in the Prescott area. The client must to their respective houses by 8:30pm on any day they’ve been on visitation.
When can I start sending my loved one mail and packages?
Clients may start receiving mail as soon as they are admitted to A Sober Way Home. In fact, we HIGHLY encourage mail/packages to be sent via the post office, fed ex, or UPS. There is nothing better that can be done to brighten a client’s day, or make them feel more supported, than to send them mail…and often.
Ten minutes, three times a week, doesn’t sound like much time to talk to my loved one on the phone.
What are my alternatives for communicating with them?
Snail mail is the best form of communication, particularly during the 14-day phone “blackout” period. We will not accept e-mails or faxes at our business offices on behalf of any client. And mail is truly always appreciated by the clients.
When we come to visit our loved one, do you have a hotel you recommend?
We recommend the historic Hassayampa Inn, and they offer our clients and families a special rate of $89.00/per night. Simply mention A Sober Way Home. Visit their website at www.hassayampainn.com.
